SYKY: A Message from our Founder

A note on SYKY's future as we begin winding down. Why we made this decision, what comes next, and how we're preserving our designers' work.

Dear SYKY Community,

It is with a very heavy heart that I'm sharing that I have made the decision to wind down SYKY. This was not a decision made lightly. We explored many possible paths forward, but ultimately, while this choice is difficult, it is the right one for SYKY, for our team, and for what we've built together.

When I founded SYKY, my vision was to create a home for the most talented creatives shaping what I believe is an inevitable evolution of fashion: a world where digital creation stands alongside, and sometimes ahead of, the physical. We're already seeing virtual goods and skins generate revenues that rival traditional fashion brands, while a new generation of designers builds identities and businesses that are digital-first. Just as social media creators grew from talented individuals online into cultural forces with audiences as large as major television networks, I believe that some of the next generation of designers will emerge designing primarily for avatars - redefining what a fashion house can be and competing on a global fashion stage in entirely new ways.

I want to be clear: my belief in this future has not changed. However, for a platform like SYKY to truly succeed, the ecosystem needs to be more mature - whether through more ubiquitous hardware (such as smart glasses that enable a persistent digital layer on our physical world) or greater interoperability across major digital platforms and worlds. I wanted SYKY to be the place where this next generation of creators could be seen, supported, and launched. I have no doubt this future will arrive. But today, we are simply too early to scale the business in a way that delivers the value our community, team members, and investors deserve.

Looking back, SYKY has been a wild and deeply fulfilling ride, and one that I will always carry with me. From bringing digital fashion to the official London Fashion Week schedule with the British Fashion Council, to celebrating our Keystone launch at New York Fashion Week with Calvin Klein and i-D; from being recognized as a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, to launching our Collective at Art Basel, LFW, and NFT Paris; from building one of the first fashion experiences for Apple Vision Pro, to collaborating with some of the most talented designers working today - we have consistently taught to push what was possible, and I'm incredibly proud of what we built together.

Throughout it all, our focus was always talent and community. That's why our community workshops, alongside partners like Epic Games, mattered so deeply to me. I have always believed that democratizing knowledge can unlock new waves of creativity — especially for those who haven't historically had access — and help launch a new generation of creatives who can meaningfully reshape an industry I love.

I am profoundly grateful to every person who has been part of this journey; the creators who launched projects and used SYKY as their home; the incredible Collective who continually awed us with their talent; the SYKY team members who believed in a vision and pursued it with such tenacity; the advisors and investors who supported us so consistently and graciously; my family and closest friends who never wavered in their belief in our dream.

For those who don't know, SYKY (pronounced psyche) was inspired by Psyche, the Greek goddess of the soul — a symbol of determination, resilience, and becoming. Those qualities live powerfully within this community and I hope that perseverance carries forward. This industry will grow and evolve, and it will continue to be shaped by those willing to imagine differently. SYKY was early — but the future is still yours.

With gratitude,

Alice Delahunt
